Conceptual:The course is designed for students who have not been in a formal learning environment for a while. However, the instructor needs to be aware that this is not a homogeneous group and there will probably be students from other backgrounds enrolled in the course.
Informational:
Gail Peters will send instructors a class roster that includes students’ Vista IDs and passwords. The following is an example of the e-mail message that will be sent with the roster.
The E 4 ME technologyGailsupportPeters person will post a welcome message on the Discussion Board. The posting will be listed under a topic titled Technical Support. The following is an example of the e-mail message.
Students should be encouraged to view the orientation video discussing course navigation prior to beginning the course. The remaining orientation videos: use of mail, the discussion board, quizzes and surveys, and browser settings can be viewed optionally if students feel the videos are needed.
Those who complete the entire course successfully will receive a certificate of completion.
Relational:
Instructors welcome students to the course using e-mail internal to the course. The following link is to two samples of internal Student Welcome messages.
After students enter the course for the first time, greet them once again by sending an individual e-mail internal to the course. The Track Students feature, which is located in Vista, may be used to verify whether students have entered the class
