Unit Two: Is E-Learning for Me?This is a featured page

Conceptual:
  1. Unit Two addresses two main ideas. "Would I be a good e-learner?" and "Do I have time for e-learning?" The assignments in this unit are intended to have students reflect on both of these questions.

  2. Unit Two introduces terminology commonly used in higher education and e-learning.

Informational:
  1. Students will take their first two online surveys during this unit.

  2. During the time management portion of the course, the formula of “two hours of study for each credit hour of course attendance” is used to determine how much time should be allocated for studying.

Relational:
  1. The instructor will post the question "Would I be a good e-Learner?" on the Discussion Board. This should be posted at the end of the first week of the course, so students can become familiar with the introduction of new topics through this means of communication.

  2. After completing the “Would I be a good e-Learner?” survey, students might need reassurance that the skills and behaviors that would make them good e-learners can continue to develop.

  3. Upon completion of the time usage survey, students may need reassurance that they can pursue e-learning. The time management Web sites provided in the course will aid them in evaluating how to use their time more effectively.

  4. The instructor should send a second e-mail at the end of the second week of the course to those students who have not yet begun the course. This message should be sent by e-mail external to the course. The following is a sample message. (Note: This message has been changed slightly from the prior e-mail message. It includes an inquiry concerning whether the student might prefer to complete the course during a different month.)
