Working with ex-offendersThis is a featured page

Some of the advisees you might be working with will be ex-offenders who have taken the E 4 ME P course. This special designed E 4 ME course (E 4 ME P) is only offered to incarcerated inmates within Ohio correctional facilities. Those who qualify to take the course have been selected because they are non-violent offenders and are taking the course as their first step in establishing an educational plan.

In most cases, you will not be able to tell if the learner you are working with is a graduate of the E 4 ME or E 4 ME P coures. One distinction is important to remember: those taking the E 4 ME P course took the course in a classroom with an instructor and did not have Internet access.

As with all advisees, your primary means of communication should be through e-mail or an arranged phone conversation using your office phone number. If a face-to-face meeting is arranged, it must be in your office. You should not provide your home phone number or personal e-mail address to any advisee. Likewise, you should never arrange a meeting with any advisee outside of your office space.
If you have any questions about working with an ex-offender, please contact Lorraine Cimimillo or David Nell, both transition counslors working at the Community Connection, 675 W. Market Street, Lima, OH 45801.
